Remote Learning July 2022
18th July 2022:
With the temperature set to soar in the next few days we will continue to keep the safety and well-being of the children central to all the decisions we make. We have already advised that children should wear cool, light clothes on Monday and Tuesday next week; and bring plenty of water to ensure they keep hydrated. Children will have access to water in school at all times.
That said, we have had to carefully consider the end of term events that are still to take place and whether it is appropriate to continue as planned. There is guidance in place for schools to follow in the event of extreme weather, which sets out clear expectations to follow to ensure the safety of all in school.
We can therefore confirm that we have taken the decision to cancel the KS1 multi-skills event for Years 1 & 2 on Tuesday. We know how disappointing this will be for children, parents and staff but please be reassured that this decision has been made in the best interests of the children.
The Year 6 Leavers’ Assembly and celebration events on Wednesday 20th July will still go ahead.
We have had some parents across the Trust contact us to say that they are concerned about sending their children into school on Monday and Tuesday due to the extreme temperatures currently forecasted. Please be assured that each of our classrooms has an air conditioning unit which will be used throughout the day to maintain cool temperatures. If you would prefer not to send your child into school on Monday or Tuesday, then your child may be ‘educated at home’. This would not incur any recorded absence; however, we would require confirmation of this via phone or email as usual. All staff will be in school as usual.
