Tredington Primary School

Forest School

Forest School is an innovative educational approach to outdoor play and learning that provides engaging, motivating and achievable tasks and activities for children in an outdoor environment. Our Forest School is an area of land along the side of our school field that has been developed especially for outdoor learning.

Forest School provides children the opportunity to learn about the natural environment, how to handle risks, how to use their own initiative to solve problems, co-operate with others, grow in confidence and become self-motivated.

Every class will experience taught Forest School lessons with Mr Holdaway, a specialist teacher who joins us once week from Bishops Cleeve Primary (another GLA school).  During these sessions, children will learn skills like shelter building and wood whittling.  Beyond this, the teacher may take the children out to the Forest School sporadically throughout the year to enhance the learning in other areas of our curriculum.
